This Deed made and entered into this twelfth day of June Eighteen hundred and Thirty nine by and between Antoine Le Claire and Margaret his wife of Davenport Scott County and Territory of Iowa parties of the first part and Philip Cody of the same place party of the second part Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part in consideration of Three hundred Dollars to them paid by the said party of the second part the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged do by these presents grant bargain and sell convey and confirm unto the said party of the second part that tract or lot of land marked known and designated on the plat of Le Clairs addition to the town of Davenport as lot number four (4) in Block number forty four

To Have and To Hold the same together with the rights [?] privileges and appurtenances to the same belonging unto the said party of the second part and to his heirs and assigns forever; the said Antoine Le Claire and Margaret his wife hereby covenanting that they their heirs executors and administrators shall and will warrant and defend the title to the premises to the said party of the second part and to his heirs and assigns forever against the lawfull claims of all persons whatsoever

In witness whereof the said parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.

be it remembered that on this Thirteenth day of June Eighteen hundred and Thirty nine before me the undersigned one of the justices of the peace in and for said county came Antoine Le Claire and Margaret his wife who is personally known to me to be the same persons whose names are subscribed to the foregoing Instrument of writing as parties thereunto and who did acknowledged the same to be their act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned and the said Margaret Le Claire having been by me made acquainted with the contents of the said deed and executed separate and apart from her said husband acknowledged that she had executed the same and relinquished her Dower to the premises therein. conveyed voluntarily freely and without compulsion of her said husband given under my hand and seal the day and year first above written.
