Buffalo Bill's Wild West performed in Wausau, Wisconsin, on August 3, 1898. Moses Kerngood was a friend of WFC's from Rochester, New York. 'Ponce' refers to Ponce, Puerto Rico. The Spanish American War (April 25 - August 12, 1898) was a conflict between Spain and the United States which was fought in Cuba, the Philippine Islands, Puerto Rico, and Guam. Tear this up— Fanny was our guest. only wish she could have remained longer When you get tired of her send her to us COD.

Mrs Cody has gone home to get Irma ready for school Irma is here and sends love. I got a cable from Gen Miles to report to him at Ponce immediately. And I am all broke up because I cant start tonight. its impossible for me to leave without some preperationpreparation. and it will entail a big loss and my partners naturally object But go I must. I have been in Every war our country has had since bleeding Kansas war— in which my Father was killed. And must be in this if I get in at the tail end. I will have a roving commission which will just suit me.

I am doing a big business in this neck of the woods.
