Envelope included. Curtis L. Hinkle was clerk of the Wyoming State Land Board in Cheyenne and friend to WFC. "Baker" and "Sweeney" likely refer to BBWW performers Johnnie Baker (marksman) and William Sweeney (leader of Cowboy Band). "Barnum Circus" refers to Barnum & Bailey Circus, which was sold to Ringling Brothers on July 18, 1907. Governor of Wyoming from 1905 to 1911 was Bryant B. Brooks (1861-1944). I was very glad to hear from you. And I have given your regards to Baker & Sweeney.2 We are all well- and busy. We haventhaven't lost but one performance this season. While the Barnum Circus have lost eleven.3 This show has beaten all big shows on receipts this so far. And we propose to do so for the rest of the season.

I will hope to see you some time this winter.

Note 1: Buffalo Bill's Wild West performed in Danville, Illinois, on August 20, 1907. While Cody did not include the year in this letter's dateline, the postmark on the accompanying envelope supplies the missing information. Note 2: Cody most likely refers to two long-time Wild West performers: Lewis H. "Johnny" Baker (1869-1931) and William Sweeney (1856-1917), leader of the Wild West's Cowboy Band from 1883 to 1913. Note 3: Cody refers to the Barnum and Bailey Circus, which had been sold to the Ringling brothers in July 1907. The Barnum and Bailey show was combined with the Ringling Brothers Circus in 1918 to form the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, the name under which the show continues to operate. Note 4: Bryant B. Brooks (1861-1944) was then the governor of Wyoming.
