BBWW performed in Macon, Georgia, October 19, 1895. Arta Lilly Elvira Cody (Dec 16, 1866-Jan 30, 1904) was the eldest daughter of Louisa and William F. Cody. Theo Heckert was a railroad contractor who had a "grading outfit" used in construction of the canal [See Patrick, p19]. More research required on "Denbeigh" mentioned in the postscript. No letter for several days Recd a letter from Arta3 Said she met Mr Heckert on train going to Sheridan after Blankets. I do hope you and he both did not leave the work at the same time. And its strange if Heckert had to go after Blankets. These things should have been thought if not why does so important a man have to go after blankets?

I am uneasy about these things and over anxious as I am getting other peoples money to spend in this enterprizeenterprise. And I want nothing done wrong. You are the Boss there. And My Dear Friend I hope you will take the same interest. I will feel awful if money is uselessly squandered there. And no good results to show. I may be there by

Please send me some more of that building rock Gypsom. Sulphur. Asphalt. And anything I can show or talk on. Send it quick. And please write me whatswhat's being done and how you are doing it. And that you see that every body does an honest days work And no time is lost.

If I get out there and these businessmen sees that the work is being extravagantly done— I fear they wontwon't put up any more money. For Gods sake hoof them up.

Note 3: Arta Lucille Cody (Dec 16, 1866-Jan 30, 1904) was the eldest daughter of Louisa and William F. Cody. In the Cody family Bible, Cody recorded his daughter's name and birth as "Arta Lilly Elvira Cody. Born. Dec. 16th 1866. Leavenworth Kansas." Note 4: "Denbeigh" may have been Frank Denbeigh (1865-1928), a miner working in Wyoming during 1895.
