<note type="letterhead">Form No. 44.<lb/><hi rend="bold">Night Message.<lb/>The Western Union Telegraph Company.</hi><lb/>This Company <hi rend="bold">Transmits</hi> and <hi rend="bold">Delivers</hi> messages only on conditions limiting its liability, which have been assented to by the sender of the following message.<lb/>Errors can be guarded against only by repeating a message back to the sending station for comparison, and the Company will not hold itself liable for errors or delays in transmission or delivery of <hi rend="bold">Unrepeated Night Messages,</hi> sent at reduced rates, beyond a sum equal to ten times the amount paid for transmission; nor in any case when the claim is not presented in writing within thirty days after the message is filed with the Company for transmission.<lb/>This is an <hi rend="bold">Unrepeated Night Message,</hi> and is delivered by request of the sender, under the conditions named above.<lb/><hi rend="bold">Thos. <note xml:id="n04">Note 4: McTague Hotel: James Hugh McTague (1858-1926), owner of a catering service in Omaha, Nebraska, who opened a basement saloon with partner Charles Little under the name of Little &amp; McTague. McTague later opened a European-style hotel in Omaha, Nebraska, before relocating to Missouri. </note>

<note xml:id="n05">Note 5: "Creighton" is likely John A. Creighton (1831-1907), pioneer businessman and philanthropist from Omaha, Nebraska, who founded Creighton University, owned a railroad company, and was Vice-President of the First National Bank of Omaha.</note>
