Isaac Cody to Joseph Martin Filed for Record Sept 27th 1841 at 12 [?] M. D. Evan Recorder

This Indenture made the Twenty seventh day of March One thousand Eight hundred and forty one Between Isaac Cody & Mary B. his wife of the County of Scott in the Territory of Iowa of the first part and Joseph Martin of the aforesaid County & Territory of the other part Witnesseth That the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum Twelve hundred Dollars to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have this day bargained, sold, aliened, enfeoffed and conveyed, and by these presents do bargain, sell, alien, enfeoff and convey unto the said Joseph Martin party of the second part all that certain tract or parcel of Land marked, known and designated on the plat of LeClaires addition to the town of Davenport as Lot number four (4) in Block No. (44) number forty four To Have and To Hold the above described premises together with all and singular the tenements and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the said Joseph Martin his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Isaac Cody & Mary B. his wife for themselves their heirs executors and administrators do warrant and will forever defend the title to the above described and hereby granted premises unto the said Joseph Martin his heirs and assigns from and against all and every person or persons claiming or holding the said premises or any part thereof and also against the lawful title claim or demand of all and every person or persons whomsoever claiming a holding by [?] or under the Government of the United States.

In Testimony whereof the said Isaac Cody & Mary B. his wife parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands & seals the day and year above written.

I Sterling Parkhurst a Justice of the Peace in and for said County do certify that Isaac Cody and Mary B. his wife whos signatures appear to the foregoing Deed and who are personally known to me to be the persons described in, and who executed the same, did acknowledge that they had executed the said conveyance for the uses and purposes therein [?] .

And the said Mary B. Cody having been by me made acquainted with the contents of said Deed and examined seperate and apart from her husband, acknowledged that she had executed the same relinquished her dower to the premises therein conveyed, voluntarily, freely and without compulsion of her said husband --

Given under my hand, this Twenty seventh day of March One thousand eight hundred and forty one
