This indenture made and entered into this Seventh day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty nine by and between Phillip Cody and Harriet his wife of the County of Scott and Territory of Iowa parties of the first part and Isaac Cody of the same County and Territory aforesaid party of the second part Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of fifteen Hundred Dollars to them in hand paid the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge do by these presents grant bargain sell convey and confirm unto the said party of the second part all that tract or Lot of Land lying situate and being in the Town of Davenport in the County of Scott and Territory of Iowa. To-wit Lot known, designated and numbered on the plat of Le Clairs addition to the town of Davenport as Lot number four (4) in Block number forty four (44). Together with and singular the hereditaments and appurtenances unto the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to have and to hold the same together with the rights and immunities privileges and appurtenances to the same belonging unto the said party of the second part and to his heirs and assigns forever and the said Philip Cody and Harriet his wife hereby covenanting that they their heirs executors and administrators shall and will warrant and defend the title to the aforesaid premises to the said party of the second part and to his heirs and assigns forever against the lawful claims of all persons whatever In Witness Whereof The said parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and affixed their Seals the day and year first above written.

I John Forrest a justice of the peace in and for said County do certify that Phillip Cody and Harriet his wife whoes signatures appear to the within Deed and who are personally known to me to be the same persons described in and who executed The Same did severally acknowledge that they had executed the said conveyance for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. And the said Harriet Cody having been by me made acquainted with the contents of the said Deed and Examined separate and apart from her said husband acknowledged the she had Executed the same and relinquished her Dower to the premises therein conveyed voluntarily freely and without compulsion of her said husband given under my hand this 9th day of September A. D. 1839
