NOTES AND OPINIONS.


The latest fad in cigarette chromos [1] is a picture of the Prince of Wales, John L. Sullivan [2] and Buffalo Bill, with arms linked, each smoking a cigarette.

Note 1: "Chromos" refers to the method known as chromolithography in which a picture is printed using the first true multi-color printing. [back]

Note 2: John Lawrence Sullivan (1858-1918) is recognized as the last bare-knuckle boxing heavyweight champion, the first gloved boxing Heavyweight Champion from 1882-1892, and the first American athlete to earn over a million dollars. [back]
