I was glad to hear that you had been to see the Coal fiends [2] — Dont you think it a good proposition to look after— Am anxious to hear where the Surveyors are at— Wish you could go down and trace the croppings. And I think we had better do some stakeing and fileing— dont you? let me hear from you on the subject— Hope you will all have a nice time on the pleasure trip [3] — remember Remington [4] has a mouth and likes his toddy— so stay with him. Gerrans says that whiskey is the best—

Note 3: In the summer of 1899 the famous painter and sculptor Frederic Remington (1861-1909) came to Cody, Wyoming, after accepting an invitation from Cody. George Beck and wife Daisy would take William F. Cody's family and the Remingtons to Carter Mountain Ranch and Irma Lake. [back]
