Mr. T. E. Calvert,
G. S., Lincoln.
Dear Sir:
The following is my estimate of cost of line Toluca to Cody:
Grading, | $820,153.00 |
Bridging, | 203,830.00 |
Superstructure, | 741,590.00 |
Ballasting, | 212,250.00 |
Fence, | 46,200.00 |
Telegraph, | 26,300.00 |
Right-of-way, | 10,000.00 |
Building, | 67,950.00 |
Total, 131.5 miles, | $2,128,273.00 |
Cost per mile, | $16,200.00 |
I have used the unit prices we are doing the work for now on sections opened, and have put a reasonable unit price on the balance.
I have used $25.00 per ton for steel and 51¢ per tie. This makes cost per mile 66# steel $5,000. 56# $4,500.
The $250.000.00 now appropriated will grade;
- 20 miles out of Toluca now under contract.
- 7 " at Agency. Indian work.
- 14 " from Corbett East. Mormon work.
It may go further if we do not encounter too much classified material.
The distance Toluca to Cody - - - - - - - 131.5 miles.
Yours truly,
(Sgd.) I. S. P. Weeks.
